Handa Golf Links

Hello everyone!

Once a month, I get together with fellow golf enthusiasts to ask, “Where should we go next?” and enjoy exploring courses around the Tokai region.
Our group is a mix of colleagues, friends, and golf buddies—different ages, different backgrounds—but what we all have in common is one simple thing: we love golf!
With that shared passion, we keep up the rhythm of playing a relaxed and fun round every month.

This time, our destination was Handa Golf Links in Aichi Prefecture!
The reservation was arranged by our reliable golf club captain.
The course is uniquely located right by the sea, and surrounded by factories, making it a striking and unusual setting. Even during play, we often found ourselves captivated by the scenery.

So now, let’s take you through the highlights of our day on Sunday, June 29, 2025, when six of us enjoyed a full round together—complete with photos and videos!

Relaxed Play on a Flat Course by the Sea

The first surprise was the location!
Surrounded by an industrial area, with chimneys and plants visible in the distance, the course offers a truly unique landscape. And right next to the fairways—you can see the sea! At first, we thought, *“Can we really play golf here?”* But once we started, it turned out to be surprisingly fun. The course itself is mostly flat with very little slope, and the fairways are wide. With few out-of-bounds areas, even a missed shot usually just means a “short detour” onto the neighboring hole (laughs). It’s designed so beginners and intermediate players alike can enjoy a relaxed and stress-free round.

One of the most impressive parts of the course was the hole facing the ocean.
With the wide-open view and the sparkling sea right in front of you, stepping up for a shot there comes with extra pressure…

…and yes, I messed it up. Straight into the water.
I thought I had judged the wind, but I was way off! (laughs)
Still, that’s exactly what makes a links course so exciting—the need to calculate the wind and plan your strategy adds a whole new layer of fun.

There are also holes that require shots over water, striking a perfect balance between strategy and breathtaking scenery.

It was such a unique sight to be playing golf while surrounded by factories.
Not only the sea, but there were also holes featuring large ponds within the course.
And yes… I experienced another splash into the water here too.

The presence of the water features adds a nice visual accent and makes the course design rich with variety.
It really kept the round from ever feeling monotonous.

During lunch, I cooled down with a bowl of zaru soba (chilled buckwheat noodles).
On such a hot day when I was already feeling worn out, it turned out to be the perfect choice—light and refreshing!
By the way, I heard the recommended dish is yakisoba. I’ll definitely give it a try next time.
(I was so focused on eating that I forgot to take a photo...)

Another great point was the convenient access and smooth pace of play.
It’s easy to get to from Nagoya, taking less than an hour by car.
